From an auto insurer in Ohio in 1925, Nationwide Investment Services Corp. has grown to become one of the largest financial services companies in the world. Services include insurance, investments, and banking.

One of it's branches, Nationwide Retirement Solutions, is a government-defined contribution plan sponsor. It offers public sector retirement plans.

In 2004, the NASD (National Association of Security Details) fined Nationwide for having inadequate procedures and systems governing the sale of variable annuities and for distributing sales literature that did not contain required disclosures. I have not found any other negative reports.

The Nationwide Web site has a retirement savings calculator and other tools for those planning retirement. You do not have to be a Nationwide Retirement Solutions member to use the calculator and many of the other tools.

Nationwide is known for its equitable employment policies.
