Mar 30, 2007, Getting All Dressed UP

Fashions do tend to focus on the young. At least that's the way things look through my glasses these days.

I had a look that served me well through most of my adult life. About a year ago, things went pear-shaped, or apple-shaped, depending on which deformed fruit you had in mind when you looked at me. Clothes that used to fit and make me look good, took the journey across town to the thrift store.

I was left having to find a new look that would reflect who I am on the inside. I'm still working on that.

But I got to dress up this site recently. I was happy with the template I was using. To me it looked clean, lean, and dependable, and it matched the image I wanted to present here in cyber space.

After all, I want you to trust that when I investigate, I do a thorough job, that I am dependable.

Then I bought my red hat, had a photo taken, and contacted Richard from web-design-success.com to get what Web masters call a new Look and Feel.

It's like dressing up my Web site in new clothes. What I like about these clothes, is that they fit. . .

. . .and they accurately reflect what is at the heart of this site.

I think the dependable part is still evident in the classy design that Richard gave me. But now there's a new element -- personality and fun.

When we retire, we have many serious issues to consider. But given that our days are shortened with each sunset, any lightheartedness we can engage in can only be good.

So this is me wearing my new cyber togs.

Feel free to comment here.

Mar 18, 2007, Will Health Force You To Retire?

Fidelity Investments released a study that reveals 25% of Americans retire sooner than expected due to ill health.

This is a double whammy.

  1. Any time you stop work sooner than expected, you face a reduced income for the rest of your life.

  2. Poor health places more demands on whatever resources a family has.

Whatever you can do to improve your health and prepare for declining health will only help.

Mar 11, 2007, Older Workers In Germany Have Trouble Finding Work

The German government has raised the retirement age from 65 to 67. With pension funds in jeopardy and and aging population, Germany has opted to keep older workers in the work force.

But simply saying, "You will work longer," doesn't make it so.

Who will hire older workers?

How many older workers want to go on working? Those who do physically demanding jobs are in a particularly difficult situation. Bodies do not go on forever at peak performance.

Worldwide, seniors will be expected to supplement their incomes because pensions cannot meet all needs.

Many turn to the World Wide Web to create their own businesses. See retire.inspected4u.com
